I just keep waiting for something to pass;
it does not pass.
and I am shifting
just by trying to stay the same

I like this poem on its own. I like how neatly and quickly it sums up a feeling. But of course, it’s a kind of complicated feeling, as most feelings are. And of course I had a lot more to say about it all.

and so, I sense
that something must change;
but to pull change from the inside
feels like
swatting at a beehive.
if I do nothing,
then quiet will remain
but will nothing change?
and then, of course
there's the incessant buzzing
even as I try to remain;
is there any escaping the hive?
my only instincts are to run
or to hide.
and so, I know
I won't get far just making spirals in my mind;
is there a way out of the hive?
if there were ever any way,
it must be You.

Jesus being the way seems like an elementary thought, though I very easily forgot. And it’s one I know I’m struggling with right now because it feels hard to believe. I believe that Grace reminded me of this truth, but the harder part is letting it take root. If you forgot as I did, He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. May that be truth that combats every lie and the daily remedy for our weary, anxious minds.
